W1ZMB Scores Bigtime!

…..so in the middle of a hurricane, Tony’s power goes out. Life can get pretty downright boring without power.  Not to worry.  The always resourceful W1ZMB hooks up a little gel cell to his K2, sets it to 5 watts, and works JA7BXS west of Tokyo on 17 meters.  Gets a decent signal report too!   Nice job, Tony!

SoftRock RXTX Ensemble Transceiver Kit

These are again available for a short time. They go quick. I just ordered one. He usually kits up 100-200 every once in a while. I built a single band receiver that worked out well.

W2S Special Event Log Available Here

W2S, which commemorated the 42nd anniversary of the 1969 Woodstock Festival, racked up 155 total contacts across 38 states and 9 countries in 31 operating hours.   Overall, conditions were quite poor but QRP and CW have a way of teaming up to deliver the goods.  Click here if you worked W2S and want to see if you are in the logbook properly.  73, Stan WB2LQF.

Rules and Regulations

If you have a question about R&R (no, not Rest and Recreation,  but Rules and Regulations) by FCC, here is a quick link to get it from the horse’s mouth.

I was remembering a rule in the past, that if you had contact
with a DX station, you were required to send both your and  his / her call, not just yours, when IDing. I do not see that requirement in the current part 97.
