Next QSY Meeting is TUESDAY, APRIL 5, 7:00 p.m.

ATTENTION NEW TIMERS (and everyone else too!)

The next meeting of the QSY Society will be held on Tuesday, April 5th,  7:30 p.m.  at the East Fishill Community Library.  Social time begins at 7:00 p.m.  There will be coffee (including decaf), tea, and munchies.

The theme for this meeting is “NEW TIMERS’ DAY” –  If you have not yet renewed your license, or, if you left the hobby and recently returned, then you are a New Timer.  Come share your experiences, your successes, your frustrations, and bring your questions.  Tell us how we might help you get more out of the hobby. Bring a piece of your gear; perhaps something you’ve built.

There will be two raffles tonight – a 50/50 as well as a second raffle with two prizes.  All proceeds will go to our treasury to help fund Field Day 2011.

The QSY Society’ Field Trip to ARRL HQ and W1AW

On Monday, March 14, 2011 several QSY members journeyed to Newington, CT.  Our Section Manager, Pete N2YJZ accompanied us.  We got the royal tour of the HQ facilities, had a great Italian lunch in Newington, and then return to visit the Hiram Percy Maxim Memorial Station W1AW in the afternoon.  Three of us elected to operate.

It was a challenge to take decent pictures or video because the space is limited, there is quite a bit of glare from glass, and the tour keeps moving.  However, there are a few still shots and some unedited movie footage of actual W1AW operation.
