Urgent: Greene County needs at least 20 Hams for Emergency Ops Now!

Hi Folks,
Greene County is still dealing with a big problem and we need more
people to respond. Please consider giving some time to helping Len and
Greene Co. out. I’m sure they would come to your county. This is a call
to all hands.

They need:

– 20 to 25 operators are needed
– NIMS/ICS training is preferred but not required
– Operators will need dual band (2 meter and 70 centimeter)
transceivers
– Expect up to three days deployment
– The county has insurance that will cover volunteers coming
from out of the area
– Experience handling health and welfare traffic is a plus
– Talk in frequency is 147.150 + (no PL) and 449.025 – (PL
114.8)
– Point of contact for volunteers is Len Signoretti, N2LEN,
518-653-1287

Anyone wishing to volunteer should contact Len to be put on a schedule
and receive additional instructions.

Thanks,
Pete N2YJZ

W1ZMB Scores Bigtime!

…..so in the middle of a hurricane, Tony’s power goes out. Life can get pretty downright boring without power.  Not to worry.  The always resourceful W1ZMB hooks up a little gel cell to his K2, sets it to 5 watts, and works JA7BXS west of Tokyo on 17 meters.  Gets a decent signal report too!   Nice job, Tony!

SoftRock RXTX Ensemble Transceiver Kit

These are again available for a short time. They go quick. I just ordered one. He usually kits up 100-200 every once in a while. I built a single band receiver that worked out well.
