Summits on the Air (SOTA)
Summits on the Air (SOTA) is an award scheme for radio amateurs and shortwave listeners that encourages portable operation in mountainous areas. SOTA has been carefully designed to make participation possible for everyone – this is not just for mountaineers! There are awards for activators (those who ascend to the summits) and chasers (who either operate from home, a local hilltop or are even Activators on other summits). http://www.sota.org.uk | http://www.sotawatch.org
Here is list of New York Summits by Region. http://sotawatch.org/summits.php?assoc=15.

Hey Scott – top this one!
Scott, if you still have your 5th grade History book, you could look up Senator Goldwater. I snagged him in 1964. He had a Collins S Line back then. The Honorable Senator actually knew Morse and had a pretty good fist as I recall. When he was back home in Arizona, he operated as K7UGA and that’s why there’s a cactus on the QSL card.
