Theodore R. “Ted” Klein POUGHKEEPSIE – Theodore R.”Ted” Klein, age 87, of Poughkeepsie died Monday, December 14, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Ted was born April 21, 1922 in Rochester, NY. He was the son of the late Samuel J. and Charlotte (Stein) Klein. He married Pearl Finkelstein on December 19, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY. Mrs. Klein died December 13, 2004. Ted served his country both before and during World War II, first in the U.S. Merchant Marine, from 1940 to 1942, and then in the U.S. Army, from 1942 to 1945. Ted was a member of Congregation Schomre Israel, IBM Quarter Century Club, Masonic Lodge #671 Wappingers Falls, The Harding Club, Past President of the Dutchess County Shriners Club and an Amateur Radio Operator. He was a graduate of RCA Institute in New York City. He is survived by two sons: Lee Klein and his wife Michelle of Poughkeepsie, NY and Howard Klein and his wife Janet of Irvine, CA; four grandchildren: Dana, Benjamin, Jenessa and Hillary Klein. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 16, at Congregation Schomre Israel, 18 Park Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY with Rabbi David Kaplan presiding. Burial will be in the family plot in Schomre Israel Cemetery, Lagrange Ave., Poughkeepsie. The family will sit Shiva starting at 6:15PM on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday at the residence of Lee and Michelle Klein, 32 Seaman Rd. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
