Christmas Island on 5 Watts and a Wire

Tony W1ZMB and Stan WB2LQF both worked T32C, the Christmas Island DXpedition.  Tony worked them on 10 meters using his K2 at 5 watts and a 135′ OCF dipole; Stan worked them on 17 meters using his K2 at 5 watts and a 44′ attic doublet.  Christmas Island is one of the Line Islands in the South Pacific, south of Hawaii, north of Tahiti, and almost directly east of Howland Island (where Amelia Earheardt is believed to have crashed).  Hope this whets your appetite to come out for our annual “QRP in the Park” event!

Observe the Moon Night

I know this is a bit off topic but I think some QSY members may be interested in attending Observe the Moon Night at Vassar Farms. The event will be held this coming Saturday, October 8 at 7:00 PM.

My other club, the Mid-Hudson Astronomical Society, in conjunction with the college is running this event. Details and directions may be found on the MHAA website: http://mhastro.org/

There is no charge, just show up and dress warmly. Check the sky before leaving home. If it is raining or overcast the event will be cancelled, there is nothing to see if we can’t see the sky.

I hope to see you all there.
